Research
Being passionate about the “Why” is one of the reasons I love experience design. It is a mix of art and science. Digging into the details of the data, the planning of usability studies and analyzing and synthesizing the findings to get that bit of insight that drives us forward.
I believe it is something that should be engrained into a design process, to constantly learn while we build.
Collaboration
Work sessions, design sprints, whiteboards, brainstorms….I love being part of teams that take collaborative ideation and design seriously.
You can see the difference in the quality of the work, how it unifies the vision of the team, how it can build camaraderie and respect across disciplines. Each of us has a unique perspective that adds to the greater whole of the work.
Figuring it out
Sometimes I don’t have the answer until I work it for hours. I love to tackle the hard problems, the big puzzles, the brain busters. Sketching like mad, prototyping, testing and iterating is part of the process for me.
Solving tough design problems, the one that makes me forget to eat or what time it is. That’s where I need to be. That's where my teams typically want me.
Learning
There is an ever-changing landscape when it comes to technology and innovation. There isso much to learn and know to continue to ensure you build the best and pushing the designs innovation potential.
I love to be a sponge and having conversations and debates about the newest and greatest approaches and tech. Every conversation is a learning opportunity.
Listening
There is so much you can learn if you just listen. Client needs, users frustrations, peers ideas. One of the most important aspects of UX is empathy. I think that listening is a key piece in how we can develop designs and solutions that truly understand our users.
Taking chances
I like to run with things. Ideate, build, test, see if it works. Sometimes it does and it's awesome, sometimes it flops and it's awesome. Take a chance, try something you have never done, be agile and figure it out.
